St Tudy Community Shop Newsletter July 2021

Committee News:

There have been changes at the committee table! After several years of serving on the committee four members decided to stand down this summer. We must give a huge round of applause to both Anna Ambrose and Denise Whitehouse for all the hours they have put in to keep the shop running so efficiently and keeping the management team and volunteers happy. Both are continuing as volunteers in the shop. Ian Hodges and Ryan Metters have also left the committee and we are indeed grateful for all they have contributed behind the scenes with maintenance inside and out. Ian will continue to be on hand to “fix” things and Ryan will still ensure we have some flowers in the planters outside.

Chris Hawkins continues as Chairman, Bob King as Vice Chairman and publicity, and Les Eastlake as Treasurer. Joining the committee are Bev Wolsey as secretary, Di Jennings, Janet Morley and Val Metcalfe. In any organisation continuity is important but it is always good to keep moving on and we warmly welcome them all. We’ve had our first meeting and things are looking very promising to continue to run so smoothly.

We are so proud that the hard work and dedication of Les and Karen have been recognised with both of them being awarded British Empire Medals in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. We are hopeful that there can be a joint ceremony so they receive their medals from the Lord Lieutenant for Cornwall and St Tudy Community Shop Volunteers formally receive the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service which was awarded last year.

It really is SIX YEARS since St Tudy Community Shop opened its doors! To celebrate and to say “thank you”, the Management Committee would like to invite all our customers to join us at The Village Hall on Saturday 22nd April between 10am and 12 noon for tea or coffee, birthday cake and to sample some of our products.
